Before & After
Shirlee and I decided that we wanted our 'boys' to be able to come outside with us without being on a leash all of the time. Sooooo, we decided to enclose our existing front deck. There is now almost 8 feet of green vinyl-coated fencing around the perimeter of our deck! Annnnd, the 'boys' LOVE it, and so do we. It made the deck, somehow, more 'liveable' for us too !! For security we have installed bolt latches and gate hasps, which can be locked, and, as a final touch, I installed an 'electric fence' wire along the entire top of the structure to keep our 'boys' in and other critters out !!!
We also built a small platform above their entry/exit door for them to 'hang out' on. And. finally, we purchased a 'waterfall' water dish for them to play in (maybe even get a drink from if they are thirsty!)
and a 'doghouse' to put a litterbox in.
As a reference the 5th wire from the bottom measures 14 inches.
After 2 successful escapes (one by each of the           ' inmates' ), I added a 12" wide barrier at the top of the enclosure. Seems that the thick fur of a Maine Coon insulates from the electricity of the electric fence wire on top of the enclosure, as well as from cold temperatures!!
