Our beloved Ori |
This photo was taken of Ori on January
2, 2005, a week after the onset of his illness. He appeared to be improving and
after a few days he was almost his ol' self again. He died two weeks later at St. Francis 24 hour Animal Hospital, with Dr. Michael Baker attending. |

The following is a letter received from Washington State University |

February 15, 2005 Shirlee and Bob Saum 835 SE 2nd Ave Camas, WA 98607 Dear Shirlee and Bob, Worldwide, a close bond resides between pet owners and their companion animals. These animals provide emotional value that closely resembles that of a life-long friend, or even a member of the family. When a pet dies, the loss feels like we've lost a friend or family member and can be extremely difficult to cope with. Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine was contacted by Drs. Burhenn, King, Gilmartin, and Healy at Feline Medical Clinic that your beloved, Ori has passed on. You have our deepest sympathies for your loss. In honor of the special relationship shared between you and Ori, Feline Medical Clinic has made a generous gift to the Pet Memorial Program at Washington State University. The impact from gifts to the Pet Memorial Program are felt throughout the veterinary college and its programs. Pet Memorial Gifts help support and enhance inpatient care and medical research while enhancing our student experience so that we can continue to provide the best quality education and training for our veterinary students. We are deeply proud of our world-class clinical programs in neurology, imaging sciences, surgery, sports medicine, cancer therapy, and internal medicine, and we are strongly commited to the relief of animal suffering and the improvement of animal health and well-being. Our success is greatly dependent on veterinarians and individual pet owners who share in our quest for veterinary excellence through the Pet Memorial Program. Thanks to the generosity of many caring individuals including your veterinarian, the program is helping to support the work of our faculty in their continuous efforts to train the next generation of compassionate and competent animal health care providers as we have done for 105 years. Please accept our sincerest condolences at this time. While the bond between you and Ori will never be replaced, we want you to know that love you shared is being extended to other animals on behalf of the Pet Memorial Program. |
